Data attribution
Boundary data
Country, region and municipality boundaries are derived from OpenStreetMap and its contributors. This data is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. Boundaries have been processed (clipped to coastline and simplified) for use in the API.
Street data
The street layer’s roads, house numbers and postcodes are also derived from OpenStreetMap and its contributors under the ODbL 1.0. South Africa’s are refreshed monthly; other countries come from the snapshot of 27 August 2026, the same one the boundaries come from.
Geocoding and directions
Geocoding’s streets, places, other names and named sites, and the road network that directions are computed on, are derived from OpenStreetMap and its contributors under the ODbL 1.0.
Address data
Contains address data from the City of Cape Town Open Data Portal, © City of Cape Town, used under the City’s Open Data terms of use. AtlasFetch is not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of Cape Town.

- eThekwini Municipality (Durban)
- City of Tshwane (Pretoria)
- City of Ekurhuleni
- Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (Gqeberha)
- George Municipality

Municipal address data is published free by the municipalities, and stays free from them. AtlasFetch does not sell it: plans pay for the service built around it, as our terms of service set out.
Map tiles
The interactive maps in the playground, dashboard and globe explorer use tiles from OpenFreeMap, also built from OpenStreetMap data under the ODbL.
